Sophia, the humanoid robot, comes to Hyderabad for World Congress on IT
Granted citizenship by Saudi Arabia, Sophia will be one of the star speakers at the conference
World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT)
January 2018 – Sophia, the world's first AI powered humanoid robot to have been granted citizenship, will be a part of the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) 2018 to be conducted in Hyderabad in February.
Being conducted for the first time in India, the conference will discuss upcoming technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), big data, data analytics and will witness a confluence of business leaders from across the world.
The government of Telangana has also approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating the event.
Speaking on the sidelines of a curtain raiser of WCIT, to be held from February 19 to 21, Chandrashekhar R., president, National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) said, "Around 2,500 delegates from nearly 30 countries, comprising over 500 from countries like Canada, US and Brazil, will be attending the event. Also, Sophia, the robot that has been granted citizenship by Saudi Arabia, will be one of the speakers and will be a highlight."
Nasscom has partnered with the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) and the Telangana government for the event. The seminar will have 22 sessions, each dedicated to AI, blockchain and other emerging technologies.
