AMA Association
The AMA Association for Sensor Technology was founded in 1980 as the AMA Arbeitsgemeinschaft Messwertaufnehmer e.V., a registered workgroup association for measuring transducers. Today the AMA Association has ca. 450 members, 70 of which are R&D institutes.
The AMA Association represents the interests of all organizations engaged in one form or another with measuring devices or systems. It thus covers the entire value chain from fundamental research to production and from sensor elements to complex measuring, testing, and controlling systems.
The AMA is an active and authoritative technical association offering its members multi-layered services and a unique network, securing and expanding the strong position of its members on the world market.
The AMA Association not only stands for sensor technology, but also for microsystem technology, since today’s measuring systems are integral to microsystem applications.

sercos international e. V.
sercos international e. V. is the responsible user organization for the technical development, standardization, certification and commercialization of the real time communication standard sercos.
sercos international e. V. offers conformance testing to help ensure that products built to its specifications operate in multi-vendor systems. The organization with its headquarters in Germany has presently more than 70 member companies all over the world as well as own trade associations in North America and Asia.
sercos III is the newest generation communication standard based on Industrial Ethernet. This high-performance technology uses the bandwidth of Fast Ethernet (100 Mbit/s) and supports cycle times down to 31,25 µs. The hardware-based synchronization is the indispensable prerequisite for the reliable implementation of challenging motion applications, such as packaging machines, multi-axis machine tools and electronic line shafts in printing machines. For safety-related applications up to SIL3, sercos is using the CIP Safety protocol of the North-American ODVA organization. In addition to the standardized communication and safety protocols, function-specific profiles for Motion, Safety and I/O are defined. sercos has been defined such that any standard Ethernet frame (e.g., TCP/IP) can be transmitted in a non-real time slot, in parallel to the real time processing. Thus, sercos combines the established sercos real time mechanisms and standardized parameter set with universal communications based on Industrial Ethernet.
